I won't suffer, be broken
Get tired, or wasted
Surrender to nothing
I'll give up what I
Started
And stoped it
From end to beginning
A new day is calling
And I am finally free
Runaway, Runaway
I'll attack
Runaway, Runaway
Go chase yourself
Runaway, Runaway
Now I'll attack
I'll attack, I'll attack
I would've kept you forever
But we had to sever
It ended for both of us
Faster than a...
kill off this thinking
It's starting to sink in
I'm losing control now
But without you I can finally see
Runaway, Runaway
I'll attack
Runaway, Runaway
Go chase yourself
Runaway, Runaway
Now I'll attack
I'll attack, I'll attack
Your promises
They look like lies
Your honesty's
Like a back that hides a knife
I promise you (promise you)
I promise you (promise you)
I am finally free
Runaway, Runaway
I'll attack
Runaway, Runaway
Go chase yourself
Runaway, Runaway
Now I'll attack
I'll attack, I'll attack
I will attack
Runaway
I'll attack, I will attack
Runaway
I'll attack, I will attack
Runaway, runaway
Now I'll attack, I'll attack
Your promises (promises, promises)
I promise you (promise you)
I promise you (promise you, promise you...)
After reading the lyrics of this song, I believe that the message is pretty straight forward. It's a song about drug abuse and finally getting over it. In the first stanza of the song, the writer talks about what he won't be anymore. He won't "suffer, be broken / Get tired, or wasted ", he will not surrender to anything anymore, it's a brand new day, and he is finally free from what was restricting him. The next stanza is the chorus, where he repeats run away, but as the chorus goes on, it changes from "Runaway" to "I'll attack", meaning that he is going to attack the addiction and finally become free. In the next stanza he starts off with "I would've kept you forever", which I interpret as him having a great time, but it couldn't last. It seems that half way through this stanza we start to see what it was like for him when he was using, "it's starting to sink in / I'm losing control now" but then he ends with "But without you I can finally see", he is finally free without it. Next is the chorus again, which is about attacking the addiction. The next stanza he writes about how the addiction is "Like a back that hides a knife". It gave him promises that were filled with lies, and the honesty of it is that it's like a knife. But now, he is finally free. The chorus is then repeated twice, about running away from the problems, but finally coming to terms with it and attacking it. The song is then ended with him saying "Your promises" and "I promise you" which I interpret as him promising the drugs, that he is finally done, they no longer have a place with him.
